Am I losing my family doctor?
No. Dr. Smiley, Dr. Freedman or Dr. Hamid will continue to be your family physician.
Is my doctor leaving The Clinic at Christie?
No. Your regular care will continue through The Clinic at Christie.
Do I need to book my appointments differently?
No. Continue booking regular appointments with The Clinic at Christie exactly as you do now.
Do I have to go to another clinic for my regular appointments?
No. Your regular appointments with your family physician will continue at The Clinic at Christie.
You may occasionally be directed to another participating FHO location if you are using the FHO’s after-hours service.
What is after-hours care?
After-hours care gives enrolled patients access to a family physician outside regular clinic hours for medical concerns that should not necessarily wait until their own doctor’s next available appointment.
After-hours care is shared between physicians participating in the FHO.
Will I see my own family doctor during after-hours?
Not necessarily. Depending on the FHO schedule, you may be seen by another family physician who is providing after-hours coverage that day.
Your regular family doctor does not change simply because another FHO physician sees you.
Will it be a different doctor every time?
It may be. After-hours coverage is shared between participating physicians, so the doctor and clinic location may vary depending on the schedule.
Where is after-hours care located?
After-hours services may be provided at different participating clinic locations.
After-Hours Contact Information
To be announced soon — please contact our office for the latest after-hours details.
What if my doctor isn’t available during the day?
Please contact our office first. Depending on your medical concern and how quickly you need to be assessed, we may offer another available appointment or direct you to the appropriate FHO care option.
Is after-hours care the same as a walk-in clinic?
No. FHO after-hours services are specifically designed to provide additional primary-care access for patients enrolled with physicians in the FHO.
What if I have an emergency?
FHO after-hours care does not replace emergency services. For a medical emergency, please call 911 or attend your nearest emergency department.
For non-emergency health advice, Ontario residents can also call Health811 by dialing 811.
Can I book regular appointments with any doctor in the FHO?
Your regular medical care should continue with your own family physician. Other physicians in the FHO help provide additional coverage, including after-hours and time-sensitive care when appropriate.
If another FHO doctor sees me, does that doctor become my family doctor?
No. Your enrolled family physician remains your family doctor.
Do I need to transfer my medical records?
No. Your regular medical record remains with The Clinic at Christie.
Is there a cost to join the FHO?
No. There is no membership fee for patients to enrol.
Can my spouse, friend or family member enrol with my doctor?
Joining the FHO does not mean that our physicians are automatically accepting new patients. This enrolment process is for the physicians’ existing family-practice patients unless otherwise advised.
