Thanksgiving – a time for giving thanks

As I’m sure you’re no doubt aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had and continues to have a significant impact on many Canadian small businesses, and The Clinic is no exception. According to a recent survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, dated September 2, 2020, only 61% of Ontario small businesses are fully open, with only 26% of businesses at or above normal (pre-lockdown) revenues. We feel we can safely vouch for one sector of small businesses especially hard hit by the pandemic: those that newly opened just before the lockdown.

In early 2019, two of us (healthcare clinician-entrepreneurs) teamed up, united by high standards and a core set of values (professionalism, responsibility, dependability, honesty, and integrity), to develop a small business (The Clinic) based on a commitment – to providing exceptional, accessible healthcare – not only for those in the immediate community (after all we live here too) but for any Torontonian in need.

Through hard work, dedication and perseverance (there were many, many setbacks) The Clinic at Christie opened in December 2019. The state-of-the-art treatment facility is actually one-of-a-kind in Toronto! It’s the only clinic that has the HydroWorx 200 – a safe, effective water-based therapy, designed to help patients with conditions ranging from running injuries to arthritis to spinal cord injuries. We think investment in the HydroWorx 200 is a testament to our original commitment. Our team grew quickly from two, to a team of 11 healthcare professionals, centered on those same core values and the commitment to providing exceptional care. To that, our local community responded in kind, with more and more of our neighbours trusting us to help them manage their healthcare needs. That said, we would like to extend a big, heartfelt THANK YOU to our community and staff for supporting us during those early months.

Just four months after opening however, the lockdown shuttered our doors (like all non-essential businesses in Ontario). Sadly, we couldn’t serve our community. We couldn’t provide the care our patients and neighbours had come to expect. Frankly, we couldn’t do our jobs!

In June 2020, we re-opened and re-committed to providing our local community with that same exceptional, accessible care. We were back!! Because you, our neighbours, were there for us, we wanted/needed to be there for you! But, we knew our community’s expectations had changed and in turn our re-commitment also had to re-emphasize SAFETY – that meant providing care in the safest environment possible. It was and is a must! At The Clinic, we strictly adhere to all the necessary government directives and orders as well as all regulatory guidelines to maximize your health and safety while you’re in our care.

It’s already the middle of October and nearly Thanksgiving – an opportunity for a much needed and well-deserved break. Despite these unprecedented times and all the challenges they bring, we would like to again give a big THANK YOU to our growing community for supporting us – a local small business – and helping us through these challenging times. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

We at The Clinic remain vigilant about upholding our commitment to providing our local community with safe, exceptional and accessible healthcare. You were there for us, so we will be there for you!

Thank you very much for your ongoing support and trust in The Clinic.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
